So whether it's the hook and loop fasteners or the 3M, these aren't gonna hold a ton of weight. Now, you may think that the screws are a little bit more secure, but those options are often modular, using hook and fasteners to attach the pockets themselves to a hooking loop backing.
Some of the other tailgate storage options on the market will actually screw into the tailgate.

They have two separate pockets that each have plastic locking clasps to keep items from bouncing out, whether you're on the road or on the trail.These are designed to install onto the tailgate just using just 3M tape. And the pockets themselves are made out of a dark charcoal carpeting, similar to what you would see as a trunk liner on a lot of different production vehicles. These pocket pods have a rigid, classic back panel. But for light items like a flashlight, a first aid kit, and other small things like that, a storage solution like this is a great idea.Now, this is a little bit more expensive than some of the other tailgate storage solutions on the market, but this offers a level of fit and finish that the other ones don't. Now you don't want to put a lot of weight on your tailgate because it can add wear and tear to the hinges. But a set of pockets like this makes that unusable space into a very usable space.
And whether you have a four-door JK, or a much smaller TJ, having additional places to store small items on the interior is always a good thing.And the inside of the tailgate is often an underutilized storage location.
